Afghanistan

What’s happening in Afghanistan?

Since the US-withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban have established complete control of the country and its border regions.

While the Taliban are certainly hunting for major dissidents and their families, there do not appear to be mass killings as was originally expected.

The Taliban are primarily focused on dealing with their new war against the ISIS-K insurgency, while also facing the mass famine which is now setting in across the country.

Ironically, the biggest threat facing Afghans today appears to be the famine.

Stronghold’s Work in Afghanistan

This past quarter, we started preparations to deliver humanitarian aid to Afghanistan starting in 2022, but continued our extraction efforts for families being hunted by the Taliban.

In the last 3 months, Stronghold extracted 15 people from Afghanistan, 11 of whom were children.

What’s Happening in Burma?

Attacks on ethnic minorities and civilians

Over the past 3 months, the Burma Army has continued its genocidal attacks on ethnic minority groups across Burma. However, they are now also attacking pro-democracy civilian populations within their own cities.

The entire country of Burma is in a state of total war and widespread violence as the poorly armed pro-democracy groups across the nation are standing up against the Burma Army.

Protecting Refugees In Burma

Since the onset of the dry season and the increased mobility which that offers to the Burma Army’s conventional armed forces, the increased attacks have resulted in thousands of refugees flooding Burma’s border regions.

During these dangerous movements to safety, Stronghold’s Burma rescue team responded to more than a dozen emergencies and helped evacuate several hundred of refugees.

HAITI

What’s Happening In Haiti?

Gang Violence and Kidnappings

For a multitude of reasons, the island nation of Haiti has devolved into a failed state. Most notably, in July of 2021, the President of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated in his own home by mercenaries.

The ensuing political turmoil has created a power vacuum which gangs and gang leaders have filled. Today, these gangs traffic weapons, drugs, — and people — with virtually no one able to stop them.

Lack of fuel and Medical care

The heavily armed gangs control much of Haiti’s vital infrastructure including some ports, mines, power plants, and fuel depots — not to mention neighborhoods and major roads and highways.

The gang’s control over power plants and fuel depots and their attacks against Haitian civilians has made electricity rare, fuel shipments undependable, and has forced many hospitals and NGOs to close their doors.

These conditions have caused the widespread suffering of the people of Haiti.

Trauma Medical Training and Medical Supplies

This past quarter, we began our first steps to creating a long-term project in Haiti by working directly with the Haitian police’s most elite counter-gang unit.

We assisted these police officers by sending Stronghold personnel to Haiti to provide emergency medical training and personal medical kits for each officer in this particular unit.

Future Humanitarian Relief Planning

During their time in Haiti, Stronghold’s personnel identified multiple humanitarian needs and began making plans for conducting humanitarian relief operations in Haiti during the first quarter of 2022.

Venezuela

What’s Happening in Venezuela?

Continued Humanitarian Crisis

The socialist Venezuelan government continues to slowly strangle the people of Venezuela resulting in untold thousands of deaths from preventable diseases, malnutrition, and medical conditions.

The socialist government’s continued reliance on narco-terrorist gangs to act as unofficial branches of government to enforce their will on the people continues to make Venezuela an extremely volatile and dangerous place for humanitarian aid groups to operate.

The Stronghold medical teams directly treated a total of 1,356 patients.

Stronghold Relief Routes

Stronghold personnel use underground routes to sneak emergency medicine and food packages past the Venezuelan drug cartels and socialist gangs and deliver the supplies to families throughout the country.

In Quarter 4 of 2021, Stronghold relief teams delivered 2,000+ doses of assorted medicines to people and clinics throughout Venezuela.
