Video: Stronghold Boat Ambulance

The rainy season in Burma creates major challenges for Stronghold ambulances, especially with roads often flooded or damaged, making them impassable. These delays can be life-threatening when every minute matters.

To address this, Stronghold adopted a new approach: instead of navigating around obstacles, we go straight across. A large man-made lake now divides the region, formed when the Burma Army’s hydroelectric dam flooded Karen land, displacing villagers from their homes.

Today, Stronghold operates a boat ambulance to transport patients, locals, and supplies across the lake. This solution reduces travel time by four to five hours, a critical difference when lives are on the line.
